Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Merchandise and Gift Shop

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is now open at EPCOT, and debuting with it for the first time is the Treasures of Xandar gift shop outside the attraction’s exit. This article features inside photos and a preview of the merchandise available for purchase for Walt Disney World’s new thrill ride.

Before we begin, a few fact sheets for other resources on this successful addition to Walt Disney World. Experiencing the new ride is a bit complicated, so if you want to experience it (and you should!), see our How to Ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Virtual Queue Speed Strategy to improve your chances of success by joining the free virtual queue.

Another alternative is to purchase skip-the-line access through individual Lightning Lanes. Currently it’s $17 per person, but it will drop after this weekend. These posts explain each option, their pros and cons, and everything else you need to know. Suffice it to say, don’t just show up to EPCOT hoping to join the waiting line, because there isn’t one.

We have already had the chance to discover Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind several times during the previews. The only thing we have not had the chance to do (until today) is to buy goods. The Treasures of Xandar Souvenir Shop didn’t have any “soft openings” during the previews – it really debuts for the first time today.

The Treasures of Xandar merchandise location is located outside of Cosmic Rewind, meaning you encounter it after leaving the building and walking to the front of the attraction. This also means that it is accessible without rolling at all. dedicated to all things Guardians of the Galaxy. Treasures of Xandar is selling several new product lines paying homage to the Guardians and their many intergalactic adventures.

As Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind should be somewhat popular…and because the Treasures of Xandar gift shop is really small…some of this merchandise will be sold elsewhere at EPCOT.

Items from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” collections, including a limited release of Opening Day merchandise, are also available at Creations Shop.

In case you don’t know, Creations Shop is EPCOT’s main gift shop, located behind Spaceship Earth and directly across from Connections Cafe & Eatery. You’ll pass right by it on your way to Cosmic Rewind.

Given the space constraints, it will probably be much, much easier to get into Creations Shop. (We don’t know how Disney will handle demand for Xandar’s treasures throughout opening weekend, but there will surely be a line, physical or virtual.)

Given how much of a problem this has been throughout Walt Disney World for the past year, we sneakily suspect that the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind gift shop wasn’t open during previews due to supply chain shortages.

This is still hard to find 50th anniversary items that have been out for months, and late shipments arrived for Halloween and Christmas months after that holiday ended.

We could be wrong – maybe Walt Disney World is holding back memorabilia until the grand opening for another reason, but that seems like the most plausible explanation for giving us the empty shelves everywhere.

On a positive note, this has started to improve over the past couple of months, but this can always be a problem with anything new. Guess we’ll find out somehow if the merchandise sells out fast!

Anyway, let’s take a look at the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind merchandise collections, ending with by far my favorite of the bunch…

Guardians of the Galaxy: Heroes of Xandar Collection

What if the Guardians were actually rock stars? What kind of music would their hypothetical band play?

More importantly, would they perform live at any event location on Earth? These are the big questions of life that this line of products answers.

Inspired by vintage 1980s concert merchandise, the Guardians of the Galaxy: Heroes of Xandar Collection imagine the gear and memorabilia fans would collect during the Guardians’ fictional intergalactic tour.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Honorary Guardians Collection

Ever dreamed of being an intergalactic outlaw? Here is your chance. After taking part in a thrilling chase through time and space in Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you’ll earn the highly sought-after title of Honorary Guardian.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Honorary Guardians Collectionwhich features the Honorary Guardian emblem and navy/gold colors, is the perfect way to celebrate your achievement in style.

Groot collection over the years

Fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie franchise will remember the many stages of Groot’s life. New Groot collection over the years illustrates the evolution of the sentient tree-like creature from baby to teenager to adult through a range of toys, home decor and children’s clothing.

(I’ll tie it with you: Groot is my least favorite Guardian. I know everyone love Groot – and me too at first – but his gimmick annoyed me in the second movie. Everyone saying “I’m Groot” like it was something smart didn’t help. Maybe I just hate having fun?)

Guardians of the Galaxy Collection: Through Quill’s Eyes

From Walt Disney World’s official announcement regarding this product line: “Before being known in the galaxies as Star-Lord, Peter Quill was an average American kid growing up in the 1980s. Peter even visited EPCOT as a child, taking a picture in front of Spaceship Earth.

Guardians of the Galaxy Collection: Through Quill’s Eyes recalls Peter’s early years on Earth and his first trip to Walt Disney World, with the retro graphics and bright colors that were popular in the 1980s.”

Regular readers might be surprised to see a merchandise post, as this blog isn’t exactly known for its comprehensive collectibles coverage. The only thing I hate more than waiting on the phone is trying to navigate a crowded gift shop. (Actually, I hate the phone thing, way more, if only because it always lasts longer.)

Anyway, I absolutely adore this line of merchandise, and that’s the only reason this post exists – to applaud whoever came up with the idea. All of the store’s other merchandise might as well be sold in Target’s Marvel aisle. That’s fine if that’s your jam, but there’s nothing Cosmic Rewind specific to it.

Not so with the Guardians of the Galaxy: Through the Eyes of Quill collection. Not only is this unique to the attraction, but it pays homage to Walt Disney World’s past. This line almost makes everything stupid “Peter Quill visited the EPCOT center and that’s how this ride fits into the park!” vanity is worth it. Almost.

By far my favorite item in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Through the Eyes of Quill collection is the mug above.

As with the Starbucks mugs released last fall for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, this is inspired by the classic EPCOT Center shopping bag from the 1980s.

Even though the new Cosmic Rewind mug lacks Figment, it makes up for that by also lacking Olaf and using a better color scheme that better replicates the original, iconic design.

We only buy merchandise now if it’s something practical that we’ll actually use – meaning we don’t buy anything for display or that goes in boxes – the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Mug Rewind is the only thing I will end up buying. Not that you care.

I also love this sweatshirt and appreciate the attachment to the 80s look, but it seems impractical for 90% of guests. Then again, they probably only have enough inventory for 2.3% of customers – the inability may be a feature, not a bug.

Either way, hopefully this will become available as a normal sweatshirt or as a hoodie down the road. (Or even a t-shirt, given Florida weather realities.)

This fanny pack is also very cool.

For the record, I tried to “bring back” the fanny packs for years. Sarah says I look like a dopey tourist when I wear one, unlike kids today who wear them in a weird way that’s sort of hip. In my defense, I am a dope tourist. My desire to stay cool by following trends faded a long time ago. Again, not that you care.

Anyway, lots of memorabilia… some of them are just Guardians of the Galaxy yard items that are easily interchangeable with cheaper products you can buy from shopDisney,, or anywhere else. Marvel merchandise is sold. There’s probably a demand for this stuff, so I get why Walt Disney World is selling it even though it does absolutely nothing for me.

Then there’s the Guardians of the Galaxy: Through the Eyes of Quill collection. It’s unequivocally awesome, and anyone who doesn’t love this selection of memorabilia is simply lacking in taste. 😉 Sorry to be so blunt about this, but the design of these items is really good, weaving together 1980s style, OG EPCOT Center and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. It’s the perfect marriage of old and new, and like the attraction itself, a love letter to a bygone era of the park.
