Hundreds of goods stolen from Petaluma store

PETALUMA, Calif. (BCN) – Authorities in Petaluma say Dick’s Sporting Goods has been the victim of organized retail robberies multiple times this month, most recently on Sunday. Petaluma Police Department officers received a call around 2:08 p.m. Sunday from Dick’s on Kenilworth Drive reporting a robbery that had just occurred.

A suspect had entered the store and taken clothing, bicycle accessories and a black sports bag, according to PPD. The suspect exited the store and walked south through the mall.

When officers arrived, they were told that the same suspect had returned and this time brought someone with him. Both men were arrested.

Police discovered that the previous evening around 7 p.m. the two men had gone to the store and allegedly stolen other merchandise worth $366. The pair are also charged with returning on Sunday and having $349 worth of goods in a stolen vehicle.

Authorities say it was the third time in less than a month that Dick’s Sporting Goods store had been targeted by thieves. Other thefts took place on September 15 and 18, police said.
