EAST LANSING, Mi. and SPOKANE, Wa. (November 2, 2022) – Michigan State University and Gonzaga University, in conjunction with exclusive Universities Brand Licensing Company, CLC, are teaming up to provide military-inspired merchandise to engage fans as teams college basketball prepare to compete on the deck of a Navy aircraft carrier.
Known as the Armed Forces Classic by ESPN, the basketball game takes place Nov. 11, Veterans Day, on the USS Abraham Lincoln in San Diego Harbor and marks the first time a game of College basketball has been played on the water for a decade. With limited space and tickets to in-person game viewing, fans can support their teams with this special collection of merchandise that will combine unique camo patterns with school logos.
The merchandise collection includes major licensees ’47 Brand, Blue 84, Nike/BCS and ProSphere. Gonzaga and the State of Michigan will each donate a portion of the royalties from the sale of the merchandise to veteran service organizations in their respective local communities.
Michigan State and Gonzaga military-inspired merchandise supporting the game is available now at each institution’s partner retailers.
In addition to the merchandise collection, both universities will offer a limited number of “Hero Boxes,” which include university-branded Operation Hat Trick (OHT) merchandise, to social media participants.
