Proton has launched a new line of official R3 merchandise and premium motor oils, marketed by Proton Global Services (PGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Proton Edar which serves to extend the reach of the Proton brand to fans, new and old. .
The R3 (Race Rally Research) division has been synonymous with motorsport since its inception by the domestic automaker in 2003, with victories in the Sepang 1000KM endurance race (five-time champions) and the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship ( eight titles).
The new product line serves to celebrate these successes and can be purchased at Proton’s Center of Excellence Lifestyle Store as well as at various dealerships across the country. Fans looking to dress in R3 gear will have plenty of clothing and accessories to choose from (priced between RM49 and RM60), but if you want something for your car, there are two premium engine oils available.
These lubricants have been developed from Petronas latest Etro+ (Group III+) base oil and are designed to combat excessive heat and regulate temperatures to protect engine components and maintain performance.
The first of the two engine oils is P1, which is a fully synthetic engine oil (SAE 5W-30) with API SP certification, priced at RM208 for a four-litre bottle. The other is P2 (SAE 10W-30) semi-synthetic motor oil, which has an API SN Plus certification and retails at RM158.
“The launch of our new line of premium authentic R3 oils and related products is the first step in R3’s rebranding journey. They will be sold to the public through our premium merchant partners at 20 locations across Malaysia. There will be more product launches to come, including accessories for Proton car owners, which will help us connect with R3 fans,” said Lee Yeet Chuan, CEO of PGS.
