Last week the Queen turned 96 – and that birthday will soon be followed by the four-day Jubilee weekend in June, marking Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.
Being the longest serving British monarch in history since 2015, Queen Elizabeth II is expected to be the first royal to reach this landmark – which means there’s plenty to cheer about.
The bank holiday weekend will take place June 2-5 and many of us will be commemorating the occasion with souvenirs and merchandise.
Apart from the mugs and fridge magnets found in royal tourist shops, there are a host of products to mark the occasion – from silk scarves and cool picnic bags in fun prints, tea towels and even an immortalization of Barbie.
Memorabilia from the 1953 coronation have since become family heirlooms and if you’re looking for an item that will be treasured for years to come, we’ve rounded up some of the best memorabilia to buy ahead of the jubilee.
Designed by Silken Favor Creative Director Victoria Murdoch for the Platinum Jubilee, this scarf is made exclusively for Fortnum & Mason. Crafted from the softest silk, the brightly colored design depicts wild and mythical creatures including a unicorn and lion alongside bees, crowns, butterflies, roses and more. Bold and beautiful, it’s a luxurious tribute to the Queen. Sign up with your email to be notified when the scarf is back in stock.
Hitting the shelves in time for the holiday celebrations, M&S has released a Jubilee-themed gin liqueur that’s perfect for picnics. The strawberry flavored drink is almost too pretty to open, bottled in a globe that nods to the royal occasion with the decoration of red, white and blue streamers. Infused with locally grown strawberries, the 20% ABV liqueur balances the fresh, fruity base with subtle juniper notes; serve over ice or prepare a summer cocktail. Available in store only.

Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Portrait Plaque: £9.99, Amazon.co.uk
A pretty (and affordable) keepsake to commemorate the occasion, this ceramic plate features a silver finish with a portrait of the Queen serving as the centerpiece. In the portrait, Her Majesty is depicted wearing the State Diadem crown – the most recognizable of the crowns as it appears on postage stamps and coins.
Barbie Signature Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Doll: £57.50, Mattel.com
Perhaps one of the most unexpected tributes, Mattel has unveiled a limited edition Queen Barbie doll to mark the Platinum Jubilee and celebrate our monarch’s 96th birthday. Outfitted in an elegant ivory robe, complete with a blue sash with order decorations, the royal ensemble is finished with a tiara believed to be based on Queen Mary’s fringed tiara – which is the same crown she wore for her marriage to Prince Philip. The Barbie may be out of stock at Mattel, but it will soon be available in the UK from Amazon, John Lewis, Harrods and more.
A fun and contemporary take on royal merchandise, we love the boldness of this Eleanor Bowmer print. Blue “God Save the Queen” typology contrasts with Union Jack flags set against a bright pink background, helping to create a striking piece of wall art. The print comes unframed and is available in a range of sizes, from A4 to A1.
Whether it’s a treat for yourself or a memorial gift for the tea lover in your life, this Emma Bridgewater trolley makes a lovely traditional keepsake. Part of the homewares brand’s platinum jubilee range, the pewter design harkens back to 20th century regal memories – and it’s sure to be a future family heirloom.
If we are lucky enough to have good weather, the long bank holiday weekend in June is the perfect time to get together with family and friends for a picnic. Luckily for us, Fortnum & Mason has marked the Jubilee occasion with the launch of a very special picnic cooler bag. From scotch eggs, olives, crackers and cheeses to bottles of prosecco and platinum jubilee blend tea, this is a feast fit for a queen.
